MARIE WARNER has five books listed on Amazon: Love Comes Dearly, Chase the Wolf, Reason for Marriage: The Duke’s Gypsy Bride, Lady of the Doves (A Reason for Marriage novel), and Pin-Up Girl (A Reason for Marriage novel). Other titles are in the works. BARBARA SHEPHERD had an article published in the Stillwater News Press: “William Scott Receives Quilt of Valor.” She had several blogs featured on Prosateur Blog: “Vittles & Vignettes” (featured blog), “Patchwork Skin”, and “Writing Tips. Her Mainstream Historical novel River Bend was released December 6, 2017, by The Wild Rose Press, in both print and digital versions.
Contest Winnings
BARBARA SHEPHERD won several awards in the Oklahoma City Writers, Inc. contest: First Place in Short Story for “Daffodil Waltz”; Second Place in Flash Fiction for “The Ram”; First HM in Juvenile for “Oink! Chomp! Splash!”; and HM in Feature Article for “William Scott Receives Quilt of Valor.” She also won several awards in the Norman Galaxy of Writers competition: Second Place in Children’s Fiction for “Dinosaur Hunters”; Second Place in Nonfiction for “William Scott Receives Quilt of Valor”; First Place in Short Story plus the Bonnie Speer Crème de la Crème award for “Octavia’s Secret.”
Professional Activities
CATHERINE JOHNSON had a Halloween poem (“Meal of Me”) on the ezine the bluenib. BONNIE LANTHRIP spoke to a poetry group. BARBARA SHEPHERD presented a PowerPoint program at Mid-Oklahoma Writers: “Character Tailoring: From Covered Wagons to Corvettes – Making Your Characters Fit.” DAVID ROPER spoke to the Little Lighthouse school in Midwest City and the Whiz Kids program in Midwest City.
Club News
The officers for 2018 are as follows: President – Robert Epperly, Vice-President: Catherin Johnson, Secretary – Magi Whitaker, Treasurer – Jaz Primo, and OWFI representative: Drake Bingham. Starting with the February meeting, MOW will be meeting in the Family Center at the Eastside Church of Christ, 916 S Douglas, Midwest City, OK.
